The Power of a Yoga Script

Navigating the world of yoga instruction as a new teacher can be a confidence-testing journey, just like any new endeavor. I vividly recall the early days post-yoga teacher training, questioning my readiness and fearing potential missteps.

From remembering names to keeping track of studio logistics, it felt overwhelming. To combat anxiety, I adopted a planning approach. Crafting vinyasa sequences, jotting down class themes, and even finding inspiring quotes for savasana became my routine.

A yoga cues list can be an immensely powerful tool when you are a brand new yoga teacher.

Eventually, I discovered the power of simplicity – having a versatile vinyasa class that I could adapt to various durations. Repetition wasn't a flaw; it was a strength. I recited the cues in my car while driving, and I sat on my couch on the weekends and read the yoga script out loud to myself over and over during TV commercials. The basic yoga script was a flexible template I could adapt for different class lengths. It became an anchor for my confidence.

Writing down my cues also helped me teach safer classes. I focused on saying the most critical cues to keep students transitioning safely between poses. It was a helpful way to ease my nerves and focus on the most important things to say in class. Bare bones. Simple. Straightforward. That was the zone I needed to be in during my first six month of teaching!

Using a yoga script uncovered the strength of my voice and resonant cues, empowering me to get creative and have fun.
