Coronavirus is Reminding Us to Get Back to Basics

I’m hearing a lot about CORONAVIRUS this week. People are a little freaked out and wondering what will happen next, and I get that.

I was reflecting on it today, how this situation is a great reminder to get back to basics.

Now is the perfect time to take gentle care of yourself.

To take simple steps to prioritize your own health.

To make time for rest and relaxation.

Here are 10 things to help you let go of stress and bring your focus back to basic self care.

10 Ways to Stop Freaking Out About Coronavirus and Take Care of Yourself

  1. Figure out what excuses you need to shed in order to make your self care happen. MAKE YOURSELF THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. Note: this may be the hardest step on this list, and do it anyway. ;)

  2. Add movement into your day. Walk, run, dance, bike, yoga, swim. Do what works for you, and log at least 20 minutes a day, most days a week.

  3. Sleep a little more than you usually do. Even 15 to 30 minutes extra is a good boost for your body.

  4. Hot/cold showers to boost immunity.

  5. Nourish your body with real foods. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you’ve got eating habits you’re not proud of, start with one small thing that will help you build momentum. Add greens to your plate and cut soda and/or processed foods out of your diet.

  6. Book a distance Reiki session with me ;) Reiki is wonderful for relaxation, stress relief, and immunity.

  7. Get outside. Notice how the sky looks, and how the ground feels under your feet.

  8. Clear your mind. Focus on your breathing. Visualize. See yourself moving through your day feeling calm and centered.

  9. Do something fun. Cuddle your pets, have a dance party in the living room, or watch some funny videos. Get some smiles going!

  10. Ask for help. The people in your life who love you genuinely want to help you with whatever you’re struggling with.

Keep your energy clear and grounded to stay well!
